Brick Con '07 (Castle & Pirates)

Whale

So I did this piece awhile a go and Austin saw it a few days a go and wanted his own copy to color so I gave him a black and white copy for him to color after he was done he gave it back to me upside down. I looked at it and I had to look at it for a minute to figure out that you can really look at it form to different ways. This is the whale (if you want to call it that) that I finished and flipped it around and rotated it. I'm just wondering if you guys can tell me which one is the original. -----Erik

Lego Digital Designer

OK so back to that pile of legos I posted earlier. Well this is what came of it. I downloaded this program I found on the Lego website and started to play with it. After I few tries and figure out what I really wanted to build. I came to a biped mech thanks to Mark Neumann and his display at the Lego store. The mech is almost fully articulated and can open up to fit a little Lego mini figure. I had to glue a few pieces due to some of the pieces not being able to hold the weight and so it can have some play value for the little man and then I went over most of the joints with nail polish to stiffen the joints up so there not as weak. I then made 2 little drones to accompany this robot on his "Secret Missions" as my one third scale would say (Austin). Hope you enjoy the picture really don’t due this guy justice. But it was a pretty good first go around for this program. -----Erik

Woodinville Fire Explorers

Can’t say you make it on the front page of a High School web page all to often. For those who don’t know I help teach these students on my spare time. Here is the article:

Congratulations to the Woodinville Fire Department Explorer Scouts who competed at the National Fire and Emergency Services in Champaign, Illinois June 18-22. The Woodinville Explorers won many of the individual and group competitions. As a result of the number of awards the group received, they are now ranked as the number one explorer post in the nation! We are extremely proud of these fine young men and women who represented the Woodinville Fire Department and the community of Woodinville to such a high degree.

Well a little more fun I just happened to stumble upon. Austin was making this figure and I looked at the cargo pockets and thought that I had seen another top to match and I instantly thought of the "Croc Hunter." So here you go. -----Erik

Motorcycle Grind In

Well here is another retainer that the Doctor let me run with for the design. I asked to be more specific such as dirt bike or street bike. They said street bike red, and this is what I came up with. ---- Erik

A Little Chess Game

Well my sister and mom got this great chess set for me while they were in Spain. So of course Austin wanted to set it up and play. Hmmmm....So I played a few games with a 4 y/o. It started of pretty good; he wanted to learn and was playing by the rules. Until I captured one of his Knights and then it was more like trading pieces. I played by the rules and took his King in 6 turns but we played on. It was a great laugh and learning experience, don’t ever take Austin’s Knight. -----Erik

Grind In's of Week 9/28/07

Well here are some more grind from the lab. The first one is an Upper and lower neon glow retainer with a green Shamrock in the middle of both nothing too special but different. The next one is a Leaping' Lizard from our regular stock of grind in's but this one really turned out clean and sharp so of course I had to snap a picture. Last is Sponge Bob himself grind in's like this are always fun to watch come together. -----Erik

Fremont Bridge Troll

Well since Austin is so good at spotting the slug bugs I thought I would go take him to a great historical bug that didn’t quite make it across the bridge. I definitely like the hub cap as the eye great touch. ----Erik
